An exciting, young sci-fi author is coming to T.B. Scott Free Library on December 29. Greta Kurth, a freshman at Tomahawk High School, has written Grounded the second book in her utopian/science fiction Trilogy. Greta started writing Divided; a dystopian/science fiction trilogy at age 13. It was this story that prompted her to begin sharing her work with others, and to date, has sold nearly 100 copies of Divided. Danny, the main character of Divided, is a fifteen-year-old girl posing as a teenage boy for her own protection. Danny is trying to function inside an all-male group named the Renanites, who are members of the Outsiders. The Outsiders are at battle against The City's cruel, oppressive order, and rule. Danny quickly befriends Auntie Marilynn, a kind, elderly woman, who lives in the woods surrounding The City. She trains and teaches Danny special abilities that she is unaware of. Although many members possess different abilities, Danny discovers alongside Auntie Marilynn that she has all of the abilities; making her the one and only Abilitator. Throughout the story, Danny develops many meaningful relationships, while suffering the realities of war, love, betrayal, and deep loss. Will Danny's abilities help or hinder the Outsiders efforts in battling for their personal worth and livelihood? Or will the Outsiders fall to the binding dictatorship of The City. Grounded is the second installment of this ever twisting dystopian/science fiction adventure trilogy. Greta will give a sneak peek into this book. The third book of the Trilogy will be titled Lived. Come to this Scott-Free Words Worth Hearing presentation in the Community Room of T.B. Scott Free Library on Thursday, Dec 29 beginning at 5:30pm. Learn what makes this young author tick, how to start writing, and how to self-publish. Both of Greta Kurth’s published books will be available for purchase at the event.
